Taghri Bardi Mosque

Taghri Bardi Mosque is one of the mosques that were built in the mamluk Period. The madrasa complex of Amir Taghribardi was built in 1440; it belongs to the four-iwan type, it is one of the earliest examples of a religious structure in which it forms a 45° angle with the street façade, Taghri Bardi was a Circassian Mamluk during the rule of Sultan Barsbay.

The brick dome of Taghri Badri Mosque is displays the earliest example of interlaced high-relief moldings decorating the exterior surface of a dome, The most beautiful parts of the mosque are its two facades, The first one overviews Saliba Street. The other Façade has a door where you can reach the mausoleum and the madrasa.

The minaret of Taghri Bardi Mosque is composed of a square first story surmounted by a circular one with a star-shaped pattern carved in stone, feast your eyes with the interesting finds of All-kuttab eaves which have a cut out pattern that mimic the stalactite pattern of the tomb cornice, while the patter of the lintel over the kuttab door echo that of the windows in the tomb façade.

Suliman Pasha Mosque is one of the most beautiful of all the mosques situated in the Citadel of Salah el Din, it dated back to 1528, it built by Suleiman Al Khadim who was a castrated court who gradually became a Wali (ruler), Though small, the mosque is a fine example of early sixteenth century Ottoman architecture. It is a center dome; free standing structure located in a garden enclosure, the prayer hall adopts the Ottoman T-form variant and is covered by a shallow central dome in the Ottoman manner, flanked by 3 semi domes. From outside the mosque, it looks ruined, but the inner part of it is very beautiful with a mixture of simplicity and ornamentation.

There are huge piers that divide the nave from the north and south aisles, a door in the north aisle of the main church leads into a courtyard with a baptistery and three sanctuaries. Fine frescoes were recently discovered in the southern gallery of the upper church, and are being restored.
